Hej!

Den här veckan har vi fått träffa representanter från några av de utvecklingsteam vi ska ha praktik hos. Vi fick bland annat genomgångar av de system som de olika teamen utvecklar och förvaltar, samt lite demonstration av arbetssätt och praxis. Under onsdagen fick vi också delta i en sprintplanering för utvecklingsteamet PoF (Projekt och Företagsstöd). Igår hade vi genomgångar av Mobility Guard, bemötande, och säkerhet i praktiken. Eftersom schemat har varit lite luftigare den här veckan har vi även hunnit med att utveckla vårat trainee-projekt en hel del. Vårat Black Jack-spel har blivit ganska coolt nu faktiskt.

I Onsdags passade vi på att sticka och bowla efter jobbet. Jag fick en strike. Det var najs.

Elias Åström heter jag och är en av Swedavias fyra traineer för året 2018/2019. På Swedavia har alla traineer olika inriktningar och det kan variera från år till år. Under detta år var det möjligt att välja mellan Kvalitet, Security & Safety, Flygplatsledning och Strategi. Nytt för i år är att alla traineer inte är placerad på Arlanda. Istället är två placerade på det förstnämnda, en på Bromma och en på Landvetter. Jag valde inriktningen mot kvalitet varför jag blev placerad på Landvetter, där jag trivs mycket bra!

Traineeprogrammet startades den 3 september och började med att alla traineer var samlade under två dagar på Arlanda. Där möttes vi av ett varmt välkomnande från vår VD Jonas Abrahamsson, HR direktör Marie Wiksborg och vår programkoordinator Anna Lagnström. Under dessa dagar fick vi en introduktion till Swedavia, träffa tidigare traineer, rundvandring på Arlanda samt diverse övningar för att vi traineer skulle lära känna varandra.

Nu har jag varit trainee i två månader och har verkligen fått varit med om mycket på så kort tid. Det första jag blev introducerad till var att medverka i ett projekt där anställda ska motiveras till att arbeta med ständiga förbättringar i verksamheten. Projektet påbörjades med att alla gruppchefer och delprocessledare blev utbildade i ett arbetssätt som sedan tidigare används på några av våra Regionala flygplatser. Min arbetsuppgift i projektet är att stötta, coacha och följa upp alla avdelningar som ska arbeta med arbetssätet på Landvetter. Vidare har jag även fått följa med på utbildningar inom detta projekt på flygplatserna Malmö och Östersund.

Jag har även deltagit på interna miljörevisioner på flygplatserna i Göteborg, Bromma och Visby. En revisors uppgift är att intervjua personer på flygplatsen för att skapa sig en bild för hur de arbetar med miljöfrågor. Det utförs även rundvandringar för att analysera hur hanteringen av till exempel kemikalier och avfall fungerar på flygplatserna. Resultatet jämförs sedan med lagar och regler som vi på måste förhålla oss till. Slutligen redovisas resultatet för flygplatsledningen där de har möjlighet att ställa frågor om utfallet.

Det var allt för mig och hoppas ni har fått en inblick vad man kan få göra som trainee hos Swedavia!

Hey readers! Welcome to another post about the SKF Global Graduate Programme. First, this is still the same Programme my colleagues talked about in the previous posts, it just changed name 😊

Anyway, now it’s time to introduce myself. I am Matteo Sanna, soon to be 26 years old; I’m from Italy and I was lucky and determined enough to get into the Programme. As you may know from the previous posts, we all get the opportunity to spend some time working abroad. In my case, after 6 months spent working in the Italian organization, I moved to Spain in the lovely city of Tudela.

Being in Spain I got the opportunity to work within process development and operations (I am a Mechanical Engineer, so you could guess I was happy to work within these fields) having a full operational role and responsibilities. I learnt a lot on the processes we carry out in SKF to produce bearings for the automotive market and I also got the opportunity to apply what I studied in the university (which is more unusual to do than you may think). Working within operations was cool as I got a different point of view of the production process. Living in such a beautiful country as Spain I also travelled a lot in the weekends and I got the crazy opportunity to participate to the famous San Fermin festival in Pamplona.

After 5 months spent in Spain I went to Gothenburg to gather with the other Graduates. I also had the opportunity to represent SKF at the UNITECH career fair at Chalmers University of Technology. It has been an honor to be chosen to represent my company in such an important event with a lot of talented students from the best technical universities of Europe. Coming back to Chalmers, where I spent one year of my master during an exchange programme, made it even more special.

After almost three weeks in Sweden I took a flight with destination South Korea (travelling 23hrs and moving ahead of 7hrs!). I am currently here in Busan, second largest city of the country. I am still working within process development but this time I am focusing on new projects: this is great because after gaining experience on improving existing process I have to opportunity to contribute and apply my knowledge on the design of new processes. Living in South Korea is a new experience everyday, starting with the crazy traffic jams on Friday evening to the spicy Korean food. Again, I am not missing the opportunity to travel in the free time, staying in Korea or going abroad in one of the beautiful neighbors country.

Hi again!

Last week we had our first training session, which was great! This training was about self leadership and professional accumen. We focused a lot on getting to know each other better as a group and feeling secure with each other. We also talked a lot about how to utilize our strengths.

Many things that we discussed turned into the subject of showing vulnerability, and how it is the key to connecting with others. When feeling connected and secure you perform better, and you express your thoughts to a greater extent.

The training session was in a really nice area close to the water. There was also a sauna where we spent our evenings together, disussing important and less important stuff.

A tip from the training is to write down what you need to work on, for example asking for feedback, setting reachable targets, dare to ask for more specific coaching, and finally set a target and a timeframe.

Hi everyone!

The first half of the first project has now gone by, and it’s my turn to say hi!

Last week Johan wrote about his project at Unibake, and now the honor of writing the blog has turned to me. I’ll tell you about my first period in the other part of the food division, Cerealia 🙂

My mission is to study our warehouse in Järna, where Cerealia is holding inventories for well-known brands such as AXA, Kungsörnen and GoGreen. The purpose of doing so is to evaluate if there is potential for an even more optimized way of managing the inventory.

I studied business and management control at Lund University, so supply chain management is pretty new to me, but it is a lot of fun. I am part of the planning team, which is located mainly in Malmö. I am located at the HQ in Stockholm, so it has been some traveling to Malmö and also to the warehouse in Järna. The first couple of weeks I interviewed several people to get a picture of the current situation, and to get an understanding of the scope of my project. Feeling a sense of the current situation, I dug into the data of the warehouse in Excel. In the beginning of the project, Excel and I were not such good friends, but as the time has gone by, we have started to become really good friends.

During these last weeks I have learned that supply chain management and inventory optimization are complex topics, and they need to be studied from several perspectives, for example the perspectives of several stakeholders. What I really like about the trainee program is that we have the chance to see several different perspectives that exist within a company. We experience different perspectives from working with various cultures, having several roles and working in cross-functional teams. That enables us to get a more holtistic view of the company.

Denna vecka kommer blogginlägget redan på tisdag eftersom vi traineer har tagit ledigt resten av veckan.

Igår fick vi återkoppling på de personlighetstester vi genomfört tidigare; ett GIA-test (General Intelligence Assessment) och ett PPA-test (Personal Profile Analysis). Det var intressant att se resultaten och om de blev vad man hade förväntat sig.

Vi fick även en matnyttig genomgång av de riktlinjer som Jordbruksverket har när det gäller till exempel kodstandard och dokumentation av kod.

Idag lärde vi oss mer om IT-arkitektur och vad en IT-arkitekt jobbar med och behöver ha koll på, vilket visade sig vara en hel del.

Vi fick även veta lite mer om teamen Atlas och Jorden inför vår praktikperiod som börjar om några veckor.

Nästa vecka kommer vi att få mer information om flera av de team vi ska praktisera i, samt presentationer av Docker och IT-säkerhet i praktiken.

Eftersom det är Halloween imorgon kommer här en bild på några skelett som Erika har pyntat kontoret med!

Nu har sista javaveckan passerat, vi har knackat kod hela veckan i de små projekten som vi blev tilldelade av våra kursledare samtidigt som de har föreläst för oss om olika java-koncept med mera. I mitten av veckan fick vi även byta projekt mellan grupperna, där vi fick sitta i någon annans kod och försöka förstå den samt fixa det resterande features som skulle implementeras. Det var bra att få träna på att även hoppa in direkt i ett projekt och först förstå koden och sedan utveckla därifrån. 

En annan bra grej med Javaveckan är att vi har arbetat i GIT, det känns som en bra övning inför framtiden då det troligtvis blir mycket integrerande med hjälp av GIT och GitLab. slutligen fick vi presentera våra projekt för varandra här på fredagseftermiddagen.

Nu blir det afterwork för att glömma bort allt vi lärt oss för en kväll! 😉

Fruktprogrammering

Hej på er!

Veckan inleddes med information om “personlighetsanalyser” som vi ska få göra (självklart frivilliga!) för att sedan få återkoppling på framöver. Vi har sedan haft längre pass kring Maven och Jenkins, som är viktiga delar för systemutvecklingen. Utöver detta har vi även fått lära känna ytterligare ett par team på IT-avdelningen och därigenom fått en hel del information kring många av systemen på Jordbruksverket. Det är ett ordentligt pussel med alla system och bitarna börjar sakta falla på plats hur de faktiskt hänger ihop!

I onsdags började sen den efterlängtade Java-utbildningen på vårt traineeprogram! Vi har nu under tre heldagar fått mycket matnyttig Javainformation och programmerat tills syret i traineerummet i stort sett tagit slut – underbart tycker vi, det är ju för detta vi är här! Den huvudsakliga uppgiften som vi har under den här perioden är ett projekt där vi arbetar i mindre grupper/par, där vi får utveckla ett litet system som ska kunna hantera beställningar av frukt. Vad tycker ni om de otroligt gulliga projektnamnen? Happy Blueberry, Pink Strawberry och White Pineapple! <3

Javautbildningen kommer även att fylla hela nästa vecka och parallellt med utvecklingen av våra fruktsystem får vi kortare föreläsningar och avstämningar med våra kursledare Marcus och Jonas. Jag tror att jag kan tala för hela vår grupp att detta är otroligt givande, eftersom vi får prova på så mycket olika saker i ett och samma projekt.

Vi fortsätter även att lära känna varandra i vårat traineeteam och hade i onsdags en helkväll med bowling och mat! Det känns kul att kunna ha roligt tillsammans både på och utanför arbetsplatsen!

Hi, blog-readers!

I’m the Global Trainee in Brand & Marketing in the Husqvarna division, Oscar Gezelius. I’m 24 years old from Stockholm, Sweden and the first trainee in our new group to write a blog post. Even though it’s just over a month since the Trainee Program started, I’ve been here since the beginning of May, since both me and my superior thought – “why not start straightaway if we’re both ready for it?”. Even though I’ve been here for over five months, I still feel really new in a few ways. There’s a lot to learn here and new experiences and new people to meet every day. This was part of the charm of working at a larger company like Husqvarna Group and one of the reasons I applied for this program.

As a Swede, Husqvarna is a brand which I’ve known for most of my life – even if I’ve known it for products which aren’t manufactured today – and the great history of the brand really attracted me to the company. This, coupled with the development possibilities and the promise of at least 6 months abroad is what made me apply in the end. And I’m really glad I did!

As my first assignment, I work as a Social Media Coordinator, working with all aspects of our channels on a global level. I was handed lots of fun tasks and responsibility from the get-go:

• Being part of developing and implementing a global social media strategy
• Evaluating, investing and rolling out a social media management software internationally
• Being responsible for social media campaign and influencer management for one of our biggest global launches for 2018
• Heading up a new influencer marketing program.

These are my major projects, but I keep busy with other stuff as well. So there’s a lot of trust put in you from the beginning, something I hope will be the case in my other assignments as well. My colleagues have been very welcoming and are eager to help (something I’ve noticed everywhere in this company) which makes this a whole lot easier!

Looking ahead, I’m really excited about what’s in store for the coming two years – going to Paris for my next rotation is one of those things but also the training modules we will have in China, USA and Germany! As a keen traveller, the international spread of this company means there are doors to the world everywhere. Not only that, but you are given important assignments and a lot of possibilities to really have an impact on the business as well as your own development.

This week, I (Johan) will be sharing what I have been up to during my first position at Lantmännen.

Not only did I have the privilege to start an exciting trainee program at Lantmännen, but also, I had the luck to go to Copenhagen for the first three months of the program. Here, the head office of Unibake (Lantmännen’s bakery business) is located. Unibake consists of several large brands, for instance Korvbrödsbagarn in Sweden :). Unibake is also Lantmännen’s most global business, with bakeries and offices in several parts of Europe, in the United States and in Russia.

In addition to being an interesting part of Lantmännen, being located at the head quarter of Unibake is also exciting since I get the opportunity to spend some time in Copenhagen. It is really a great city, with an international atmosphere, several good restaurants and of course a lot of Danish pastry.

Furthermore, the office is said to have the best coffee machine in all of the Lantmännen group (which is good for me being a coffee lover 🙂 ) and the view from the office is quite alright.

So what do I do at Unibake? I am at the innovation department, helping in the implementation process of the new innovation strategy. It is really an exciting project where I learn new things almost every day. Also, to know that the assignments I do will be important for some of the steps in the strategy, and will be used even after I leave after these three months, makes it even more interesting.

Not only is Unibake a truly international business, given that there are around 15 different nationalities in the office in Copenhagen, but also since it is such a global business with offices in many different countries. This also means that I get the opportunity to attend many interesting meetings, where key people from the different countries gather and discuss different topics on the agenda.

Apart from working on different assignments connected to the innovation strategy, I have also had the time to visit the grain handling process at Lantmännen Lantbruk in Helsingborg, the pancake factory in Laholm (as you can read more about in the previous blog post), a bakery here in Denmark and finally the mill in Malmö.

It is truly amazing to see how the mill works and especially the location of the mill – right in the middle of Malmö, which is quite unique.
