UK Global Trainees- Allan & Henry<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n About Me:<\/strong><\/p>\n I am from a small town on the west coast of Scotland (If you are\u00a0fortunate enough to meet me, you may have some issues understanding my accent as most people do).\u00a0I studied Engineering with Management at Edinburgh Napier University while also working as an Assistant Engineer for a privately owned company within Water Sector.<\/p>\n Once I had completed my studies I had the opportunity to join a Graduate Programme with a large\u00a0manufacturing company within Aerospace Industry. After a year on the programme and having\u00a0held\u00a0two 6 month supervisory roles, I was preparing to move to Wales for my final year.<\/p>\n One morning I\u00a0just happened to be\u00a0scrolling through LinkedIn\u00a0and I came across the job advert for the position\u00a0of a\u00a0Global Trainee\u00a0at SKF.\u00a0While working\u00a0for an\u00a0engineering company I\u00a0had\u00a0come across\u00a0SKF on several occasions as we purchased SKF bearings and also Condition Monitoring products. I had also been on training courses held by SKF in the past.\u00a0Taking all of this into consideration it was a no-brainer applying for the job.<\/p>\n Lets fast forward\u00a0a few\u00a0months…<\/p>\n Gothenburg:<\/strong><\/p>\n I accepted the offer to join SKF in September\u00a0and within two weeks I\u00a0was in\u00a0Gothenburg\u00a0with ten other Global Trainees from around\u00a0the world\u00a0meeting Alrik Danielson\u00a0the SKF CEO.\u00a0\u00a0I don’t think you could have asked for a better start to a new job!<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Global Trainee’s with Alrik Danielson- SKF CEO<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n I\u00a0 spent one month\u00a0with the other global trainees\u00a0in Gothenburg where we met all\u00a0members of the group management team\u00a0while also taking part in Factory tours to understand the manufacturing process. To me, the introduction month was a perfect way to get to know each other while also allowing us to find out more about the future of SKF. This would also be the start to me building my global network within SKF!<\/p>\n Where am I know?<\/strong><\/p>\n I was hired by SKF to work within the Innovation & Business Development unit. A lot of people only know SKF for their bearings but we are a lot more than just bearings. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to tell the condition of\u00a0your machine before it fails? Well, we can, using\u00a0Condition Monitoring.\u00a0 I am currently working\u00a0at the Hardware and Software\u00a0Development Centre\u00a0here in Livingston where we design the\u00a0Condition Monitoring products that allow us to do this. This has been a really interesting rotation as it has\u00a0allowed me to understand the product development process\u00a0for these products.<\/p>\n In addition to learning about the product development process, I have\u00a0also been working on a\u00a0project that is looking at\u00a0we can\u00a0further support the Sales & Service\u00a0teams throughout SKF. This has allowed me to understand what information the Sales teams require to be able to sell these products to the market and also what support our Service Engineers require in the field.\u00a0This project has\u00a0allowed\u00a0me to\u00a0grow my global network as I am regularly speaking to Sales Directors and Business Development Managers from all\u00a0around the world!<\/p>\n What’s Next?<\/strong><\/p>\n At the end of March, I will head to Finland to work within the Industrial Market Sales team for\u00a0five months. This will allow me to understand\u00a0how the\u00a0Sales teams operate\u00a0in other countries.
